Yale University 3-Minute Thesis

The Yale “3-Minute Thesis Competition” challenges Ph.D. students to concisely share their research with a non-specialist audience. In 2023, I won the Social Sciences 3MT with this presentation of my research.

Yale Research Psychology Bootcamp

The Yale Psychology Department Committee on Diversity and Inclusion aims to create a diverse and inclusive environment for faculty, students, and staff, and for the STEM community more broadly. As co-chair of this committee, I lead organization of the inaugural, 2nd annual, and 3rd annual 3-hour Psychology "boot camp" for over 2000 primarily underrepresented minority undergraduate and post-graduate attendees. Participation in this event resulted in a 50% increase in understanding of what it takes to earn a PhD in Psychology in First-Generation/Low-Income participants, as well as a 40% increase in understanding of the graduate school application process in Black participants. Video from these events, as well as resources for pursuing a career in psychology, are permanently hosted on the Yale Psychology website.

Space Planning Committee Visuals

In 2020, the Yale Psychology Department assembled a planning committee, including two elected graduate students, to make key decisions regarding the department's relocation to a new facility. As a representative, I surveyed my peers, collected and analyzed data, and presented it to the committee of faculty, architects, and University administration via visualizations like the examples below:

"Racism from the Millenial Perspective"

On August 13th, 2020 I was invited to present and lead a discussion on racism to members of the St. Andrew's Church in Newport News Virginia, as part of their "Responding to Racism" series. Video from that talk is below.

"Coronavirus reminds us that America doesn’t like Black people"

On May 30th, 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic, I wrote an article on the effect of the virus on the African American community. That article, pulished in Lacuna magazine, is linked below.
